BGK LAW ASSOCIATES, Advocates and Legal Advisors is a boutique law office founded by Dr. B. Gopalakrishnan. Dr. Gopalakrishnan has more than 4(four) decades of hard-core practical experience both as a lawyer and as an in-house counsel and was heading the Law Department of India’s First New Generation Private Sector Bank.
The Founder was associated earlier with various Law Firms heading their Dispute Resolution practice in Mumbai. The founder always wanted to set up an institution of his choice where quality rather than quantity counts. Accordingly in the year 2021, the founder started this boutique law firm BGK LAW ASSOCIATES, Advocates and Legal Advisors.
The practice of this law firm is not confined to litigation alone, it does and undertakes transaction and advisory matters. Within a few days of setting up this law firm, the founder was commissioned by various public sector institutions and Bank, Financial Institution, NBFCs and Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs) to thoroughly revise their existing manual of documentation. The founder and the firm are associated with various institutions as their Legal Advisors on legal issues encompassing all the aspects of their business.
The area of practice encompasses to all aspects of Corporate Law, IBC practice, Company Law practice, large number of Arbitrations representing banks and financial institutions, RERA, Consumer forum including State and National apart from representing banks and financial institutions in DRAT, DRT, etc.
The transaction practice includes advising on mergers, acquisitions, having of non-core business, restructuring of debts, settlement of debts, acting as legal advisors to committee of creditors/RP/Liquidator, documentations for lending under single lending, multiple banking lending, consortium finance, and share purchase agreements, etc. and advising on SEBI matters and merchant banking related issues apart from Banking & Finance.
The other major area of practice is drafting contracts, joint-venture agreements, Information Technology agreements and giving legal opinion on various issues related to all aspects of corporate law. We also deal in HR matters.
Our team consists of qualified Advocates who have the necessary experience and expertise and is constantly monitored by the founder and is mentored by the founder. The founder is involved hands-on in all the matters. It is teamwork which works here since we believe in the motto, “TOGETHER WE CAN”.
